Finished Single Malt Bundle

Finishing whiskies in different types of casks is a very old tradition in the world of single malt. American single malt producers have proudly joined that tradition, both with traditional finishes like sherry and newer, less common ones like red and white wine cask finishes.

This bundle shows off all three types, starting with the most traditional: a heavily sherried single malt from Cedar Ridge distillery in Iowa. This whiskey won Best of Class for Finished Whiskies at the 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and is the epitome of a heavily sherried malt. The two wine-finished casks–one from Westland, finished in a Washington Cabernet Sauvignon cask, and one from Westward, finished in an Oregon Chardonnay cask–show how the best finishes can work. They amplify and highlight existing flavors, making what’s already there more prominent. For the Westland, that’s red fruit and baking spice flavors; for the Westward, it’s tropical fruit and white floral notes.

All three single malts in this bundle were originally aged in new oak and were finished for well over a year, giving the whiskey plenty of time to integrate the new flavors.
