American single malt encompasses a broad range of styles. This bundle includes one whiskey that is a near-hazmat, bold and intense single malt from the high-elevation environment of Boulder, Colorado. The other is equally rich yet more delicate, a lower-proof single malt aged in the coastal Pacific Northwest.

Despite their different origins of Colorado and Washington, these whiskies share a lot in common; both are unsmoked, made with 100% malted barley, made on traditional Scottish copper pot stills, and aged in new oak barrels. 

Aging in new oak is a style of single malt that’s increasingly associated with American whiskey. It results in whiskey that is both deeply reflective of the underlying barley, while also showcasing rich vanilla and oak flavors that don’t come through with used cask aging. 

The whiskies in this bundle showcase an important emerging style of American single malt, one that shares almost as much with bourbon and with craft beer as Scotch.
