Lost Lantern Classics: Wild Wild Westward

The Lost Lantern Spring 2025 Collection celebrates new American finishing traditions, new types of finishing casks that have rarely been seen before. Yet it does not cover every type of new finish imaginable… nor is it the first time we’ve showcased whiskies that have finishes that are uniquely local to them.

This special bundle brings back one past Lost Lantern release that could easily have fit into the Spring 2025 Collection, and also includes the first-ever public release of a recent club bottling that also fits with the collection. Both are single malts from the excellent Westward Whiskey in Portland, Oregon, and both boast truly unique finishes. 

The first is a white finish finish: our Westward Oregon Single Malt Finished in an Oregon Chardonnay Cask. First released as part of our Spring 2022 Collection, this blast from the past fits perfectly with the theme of the Spring 2025 Collection and shows that we’ve been thinking about these things for a long time!

The other release is a private cask originally bottled for the online Cult of Balcones fan club. Also from Westward, it is a single malt that was finished for over 4.5 years in a stout cask from a local brewery. It is rich, deep, and chocolatey, and has never before been publicly available.

Beer finishes and wine finishes are both important parts of the evolving world of new American finishing traditions. We did not feature either directly in the new Spring 2025 Collection, but here’s your chance to try them both!
