Lost Lantern hand-selected this cask from Whiskey Del Bac in Tucson, AZ, which makes single malts that truly reflect the character and spirit of the Sonoran desert, one of the hottest and most unique climates in the United States.
Whiskey Del Bac is best known for their mesquite-smoked whiskies but also makes unsmoked single malt, like this exceptional single cask. Aged for just 11 months in a 15-gallon new American oak cask in the desert heat, this cask has notes of dark caramel, rich oak, and black raspberry on the nose. The palate is savory, with hints of blackberry and dark chocolate. a dark, rich, and intense single cask.
This may well be one of the youngest whiskies you've ever seen. It's certainly the lowest age statement we've ever released. In fact, we debated putting this back into a barrel for 8 days--that was all it needed to hit a one-year age statement--but ultimately decided that we loved it the way it is. Why change it just for the sake of changing it? But if you like Whiskey Del Bac or hot climate single malt in general, trust us on this one.
